Bridgewater State College (BSC) was founded in 1840 by Horace Mann as one of America's first teacher preparation institutions. The campus is situated on 235 acres in the heart of the town of Bridgewater, Massachusetts. As the comprehensive public college of Southeastern Massachusetts, Bridgewater State College has a dual mission: to educate the residents of Southeastern Massachusetts and the Commonwealth, and to use its intellectual, scientific and technological resources to support and advance the economic and cultural life of the region and the state.
