Florida Memorial College is a four-year, private, coed, liberal arts college affiliated with the Baptist Church. Its origins are with Florida Baptist Institute, founded in 1879, and Florida Baptist Academy, founded in 1892. The two institutions merged in 1941 to form Florida Normal and Industrial Memorial Institute. The school became a four-year college and awarded its first bachelor’s degree in 1949.
