The Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary was voted into existence in 1936 by action of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It operated in Washington, D.C. until it was transferred to Berrien Springs, Michigan, in 1960. Here it became a school of the newly established Andrews University. The Seminary is fully accredited by The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada.
The primary mission of the Seminary is to prepare ministers for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This is done especially by means of the 3-year Master of Divinity program. There are also 2-year master’s programs in Youth Ministry and in Pastoral Ministry. In addition, the Seminary offers the 1-2 year academic Master of Arts in Religion program and the Master of Theology. Three doctoral programs are also offered: Doctor of Ministry, Doctor of Philosophy in Religion, and Doctor of Theology.
