SIU School of Medicine is a state-assisted school established in 1970 to help the people of central and southern Illinois in meeting their health care needs through education, research and service. Illinois benefits greatly from the commitment of SIU's faculty and staff. The School of Medicine is working to train caring and competent physicians and develop new models for providing health care in rural areas.
